Starlight Princess slot review: scatter pays and multipliers up to 500x

Starlight Princess is a Pragmatic Play slot from September 2021 that pays for eight or more matching symbols anywhere on a six-by-five grid, removes winning symbols in tumbles, and drops random multiplier symbols worth up to 500x. The game sheet gives an RTP of 96.5%, high volatility and a maximum win of 5,000x the stake. If you know Gates of Olympus, the structure will feel familiar: the main differences are the theme and the rating of the swings.

How Starlight Princess pays

There are no paylines. After each spin, the game counts identical symbols across all thirty positions, and eight or more of a kind pay wherever they sit. The winning symbols then vanish and the ones above tumble down, with new symbols filling the gaps. Tumbles continue as long as new wins form, so one spin can pay several times.

Random multiplier symbols can land on any spin. A multiplier that lands during a winning tumble sequence boosts the win from that sequence. That is how a modest spin can turn into a large one, and also why most spins pay little or nothing: the big outcomes depend on multipliers and wins arriving together.

Starlight Princess free spins

The scatter symbol triggers 15 free spins, and the round can be retriggered for more. Free spins are where the slot's top results come from, since multipliers collected during the round have more chances to land on winning tumbles. The provider's figure of 5,000x is the ceiling, not a typical bonus result; many free spin rounds pay back less than the stake that led to them.

Starlight Princess vs Gates of Olympus

Both games come from Pragmatic Play and use the same six-by-five, pay-anywhere grid with tumbles. Both have multipliers that top out at 500x, called orbs in Gates of Olympus. The differences: Gates of Olympus arrived first, in February 2021, and is rated very high volatility, a step above Starlight Princess. It also offers an ante bet and a buy feature.

The two share an engine, and the choice is mostly about theme and how much variance you want. Our Gates of Olympus review covers those extras.

Starlight Princess demo and free play

There is no demo on this site. The official Starlight Princess demo is on Pragmatic Play's own website, and some licensed bookmakers offer a demo mode in their lobby. Demo play uses credits with no value; it shows how often tumbles and multipliers appear, but it cannot predict real-money results.

Starlight Princess in South Africa

Starlight Princess is only available locally through provincially licensed bookmakers that carry Pragmatic Play games, including Betshezi, Scorebet, Sportingbet, World Sports Betting, Gbets, PlayBet, Betfred, Topbet, Vegas Bets and YesPlay. Lobbies change, so check whether this title is listed before assuming it is. Online casinos are not licensed in South Africa, and the legal status of casino-style games at bookmakers is disputed and depends on the province. See the Pragmatic Play slots page for related games, or the slot reviews hub for every title we cover. Spins promotions tied to Pragmatic games come with conditions explained in the bonuses guide.

Playing a high-volatility slot sensibly

There is no Starlight Princess strategy that improves the 96.5% RTP; results are random on every spin. Smaller stakes relative to your budget simply let a session last longer through dry spells. You must be 18 or older to gamble, and the responsible gambling page explains how to set limits.
