If the results block is empty, the latest data has not come through yet or is older than three days, and we would rather show nothing than an outdated draw. In that case, check the official operator's site or a retailer terminal.
Who runs the National Lottery now: Sizekhaya, not Ithuba
Many people still search for the Ithuba National Lottery, but Ithuba's licence ended in May 2026. Since 1 June 2026 the South African National Lottery and Sports Pools have been operated by Sizekhaya Holdings under an eight-year licence. The licence award is being challenged in court, and the outcome of those review applications is not yet known.
The regulator remains the National Lotteries Commission, which oversees the operator under the Lotteries Act 57 of 1997. Sizekhaya's own site, sizekhaya.co.za, describes itself as the home of the National Lottery. The old nationallottery.co.za domain did not load when this page was last checked, so treat the operator's current site and official retailer terminals as the reference for results and prize claims.
The national lottery games and their draw days
The games below are the ones most South Africans mean by "national lotto". Draw days and times are those reported around the handover to Sizekhaya; the operator can change them, so check its schedule before relying on them.
| Game | Reported draw days | Reported time (SAST) |
|---|---|---|
| PowerBall and PowerBall Plus | Tuesday and Friday | 21:00 |
| Lotto, Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 | Wednesday and Saturday | about 20:56 to 21:00 |
| Daily Lotto | Every day | 21:00 |
Under Sizekhaya some games are reported to have new names, such as PowerBall XTRA for the former PowerBall Plus and Lotto 5 Max for the former Lotto Plus 2, and Daily Lotto Plus has had no draws since May 2026. Price changes and new formats have also been reported. Until the operator's own pages confirm the details, we keep the familiar names next to the new ones.
Latest results by game
Each game has its own results page with the recent draw history and an explanation of how the game works:
- PowerBall and PowerBall Plus results, the twice-weekly draw with its separate PowerBall number.
- Lotto, Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 results for Wednesday and Saturday, including the Saturday lotto results many readers look for.
- Daily Lotto results, drawn every evening.
Looking further back? The past results archive lets you find a draw by date, and the payouts page explains how the prize divisions work.
How to check your lotto results properly
- Match the draw. Check that the draw date and game on your ticket match the results you are reading. A Wednesday Lotto ticket is not a Saturday ticket, and Lotto Plus is only included if you selected it.
- Count your matches per board. Each board on the ticket is a separate entry. Compare every board line by line.
- Check the extra numbers. Lotto has a bonus ball and PowerBall a separate PowerBall number. The operator's prize table shows which divisions depend on them.
- Confirm officially. Have the ticket scanned at a retailer terminal or check it with the operator. Results shown on third-party sites, including this one, are for information only.
- Keep the ticket safe. Store it somewhere flat and dry. The current rules for where and how to claim larger prizes should be checked with the operator, because they may have changed with the new licence.
National lottery or lucky numbers?
The national lottery is a ticket you buy from the licensed operator. "Lucky numbers" products at some bookmakers are fixed-odds bets on the outcome of a draw, often a foreign one such as UK49s or Gosloto. They are a different product, and betting on the outcome of a lottery is restricted by section 57 of the Lotteries Act. Our lucky numbers section publishes those results for information only. It also covers French lottery results, often searched as French lotto results for today, which are not part of the South African National Lottery.
Readers searching for UK National Lottery results or South Australian lotto results should note that those are separate lotteries in other countries. This page covers the South African National Lottery only.
Predictions, hot numbers and the odds
Every draw is random. Statistics about which numbers came up often in the past can be interesting, and our lotto number statistics page shows them, but no prediction makes a number more likely in the next draw. Buy tickets only with money you would otherwise spend on entertainment.
Play responsibly
Nobody under 18 may buy or claim a National Lottery ticket. If buying tickets or betting on numbers is becoming a habit you struggle to control, the National Responsible Gambling Programme offers free counselling on 0800 006 008. Read our responsible gambling page for more support options.

Questions and answers
Where can I find today's lotto results?
The results block at the top of this page shows the latest draw for each South African National Lottery game. For prize claims, always confirm the result with the official operator or a retailer terminal.
Does Ithuba still run the National Lottery?
No. Since 1 June 2026 the operator is Sizekhaya Holdings, under an eight-year licence that is being challenged in court. The National Lotteries Commission remains the regulator.
What days are the lotto draws?
PowerBall has been drawn on Tuesdays and Fridays, Lotto and Lotto Plus on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and Daily Lotto every day, according to schedules reported around the handover. Check the operator's site for any changes.
Why is the results block empty?
The block only shows data that is less than three days old. If the latest draw has not come through yet, it stays hidden rather than showing old numbers.
Are lotto winnings taxed in South Africa?
Casual lottery winnings are generally not treated as taxable income, but no official SARS ruling was found to confirm this for every case. Check with SARS or a tax practitioner if you win a large prize.
