Lucky numbers results: UK49s, Gosloto, Irish Lotto and France Lotto

Lucky numbers is the South African name for the foreign lottery draws that local bookmakers take fixed-odds bets on, chiefly UK49s, Gosloto, Irish Lotto and France Lotto. This page shows the latest lucky numbers results from those draws as soon as they are published, with links to a separate results page for each game.

Which draws count as lucky numbers

Bookmakers group a long list of overseas draws under the lucky numbers label. The ones covered here, each with its own results page:

Draw days and times are set by each organiser and occasionally change. The official schedule is published by the organiser of each draw; this site does not repeat it so that it cannot go out of date here.

Lucky numbers results vs South African lotto

Lucky numbers are not the National Lottery. Lotto, Powerball and Daily Lotto are South African lotteries run by the licensed National Lottery operator, Sizekhaya, under the oversight of the National Lotteries Commission. Their results have their own section on Lotto results South Africa. A lucky numbers result, by contrast, is the outcome of a foreign draw that South Africans can only follow from here, and a ticket for it cannot be bought in a South African shop.

What a lucky numbers bet is, and what the law says

When a bookmaker offers "lucky numbers", it is taking a fixed-odds bet on which balls a foreign draw will produce: for example, whether one, two or three chosen numbers appear, sometimes with or without the extra ball. It is a bet on the outcome of a lottery, not a lottery ticket.

That distinction matters in South Africa. Section 57(2)(g) of the Lotteries Act makes it an offence to run a scheme that provides for betting on the outcome of any lottery unless another law authorises it, and in 2021 the Mbombela High Court relied on that section to stop LottoStar from taking such bets. Whether provincial bookmaker licences count as that kind of authorisation for foreign draws has not been settled. For that reason this section publishes results and explains the draws only: it does not rank operators, carry links to bookmakers or suggest where to place lucky numbers bets.

Searches for Betway lucky numbers and other brand results

Many people search for "Betway lucky numbers results today" or similar brand names. Those searches are almost always looking for the same draw results shown above: a bookmaker does not run its own lottery, it settles bets on a public draw. If a number on a bookmaker's screen disagrees with the published result of the draw, the published result is what counts, and a complaint should go to the bookmaker and then to its provincial gambling board.

Booster ball and bonus ball: the extra number

Some draws publish an extra number alongside the main balls, called the booster ball or the bonus ball depending on the game. Searches such as "booster ball for today lunchtime" or "today's bonus ball" are looking for that number. Where a draw has one, the results feed shows it next to the main numbers. Bets on combinations such as "3 numbers plus bonus" are bookmaker products; the rules for them sit in each bookmaker's own terms.

Mega Millions and other draws not covered here

Mega Millions is an American lottery, and searches for Mega Millions winning numbers or Mega Millions results history are popular in South Africa. It is not part of this results feed. Official Mega Millions results are published by the American lotteries that sell its tickets, and those are the only sources to rely on for winning numbers or jackpot claims.

Lucky number for the day: what star signs and number apps cannot do

Horoscope pages offer a lucky number for the day by star sign, and apps promise "my lucky numbers for today". They make no difference to a draw. Every ball has the same chance in every draw, and past results, birthdays or zodiac signs do not change that.
