TAB betting app: getting TAB Gold on your phone for tote and soccer pools

The TAB betting app and mobile site are run by Race Coast KZN, previously trading as Gold Circle, and the only safe starting point is TAB's own website, tabgold.co.za. Open it on your phone, follow the app download or mobile option it offers for your device, and avoid TAB APK files posted on other sites. TAB's published pages concentrate on race meetings, pools and responsible gambling rather than app versions, so the current download route is whatever tabgold.co.za shows on the day.

How the TAB betting app differs from fixed-odds apps

Most bookmaker apps sell fixed-odds bets: the price is locked when you place the bet. TAB is a totalisator, or tote. Your stake goes into a pool with everyone else's on the same bet type, the operator's deduction is taken, and the rest is shared between winning tickets. The dividend is only known once the pool closes. That changes how you use a TAB online betting app:

• Approximate dividends move as money comes into the pool, right up to the off.
• Exotic pools, such as the South African Quartet pools that TAB runs on local and international meetings including UK racing, pay out from large shared pools.
• Soccer pools are tote bets too: Soccer6, Soccer10 and Soccer Any 13Xtra ask you to predict a set of match results, and carryovers can build when no ticket wins.

TAB Gold app download: safe steps

1. Type tabgold.co.za into your phone's browser rather than following an advert or forwarded link.
2. Check the operator details. The site names Race Coast KZN (previously Gold Circle (Pty) Ltd), company registration 1998/024366/07, and operator licence TOT0002, issued on 31 March 2025 by the KwaZulu-Natal Economic Regulatory Authority.
3. Use only the site's own download option. On Android, if the app is supplied as an APK, allow the install from your browser for that file and switch the permission off afterwards. On iPhone, install only from an App Store listing that the TAB site links to.
4. Log in with your existing TAB account, or register and complete FICA verification if you are new.

If TAB does not offer an app for your phone, the mobile site in the browser works with the same account, and adding it to your home screen gives you a one-tap shortcut.

Betting on the move: race days and pool closing times

The appeal of a TAB app is following race meetings away from a TAB outlet or racecourse. Two habits help on a phone. First, check that a pool is still open before building a complicated Quartet: a slow connection near the off can leave a bet unplaced. Second, read the dividend screen after the race rather than assuming a payout from the odds you saw earlier, because tote dividends are final only when the pool closes.

Limits and self-exclusion on your TAB account

TAB's responsible gambling page sets out three levels of control: a temporary suspension that puts the account on hold for at least 7 days, self-exclusion, and permanent exclusion. These apply to your account on every device. TAB states that no persons under the age of 18 are permitted to gamble. If you bet on your phone, consider setting a weekly budget before race day and logging out between meetings. Our responsible gambling guide explains self-exclusion and confidential support.
