LottoStar app download: getting LottoStar on Android and iPhone safely

The LottoStar app is reached through the operator's own website, lottostar.co.za: start there, follow the download or mobile link it offers for your phone, and never install a LottoStar app file from another site. The licence page and FAQ quoted throughout our LottoStar coverage do not set out app store listings or version details, so the current download options are whatever LottoStar's own site shows on the day. This page explains how to download safely on Android and iPhone, and what to check before you log in.

LottoStar app download on Android

Bookmaker apps for Android in South Africa are often supplied as an APK file from the operator's own website rather than through Google Play. If LottoStar offers an Android download, the safe sequence is:

1. Open lottostar.co.za in your phone's browser by typing the address yourself, not through an advert or a link in a message.
2. Check the footer. It should name LottoStar (Pty) Ltd and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, licence number 9-2-1-09467.
3. Use the download link on that site only. Android will ask permission to install an app from your browser. Allow it for this install only, and switch the permission off again afterwards.
4. Log in with your existing details. The app uses the same account, balance and FICA status as the website.

The LottoStar app costs nothing to download. Any page that charges for it, asks for your password before you reach LottoStar's own login, or offers a "modded" LottoStar APK is not genuine.

LottoStar on iPhone

iPhone apps install only through Apple's App Store. If LottoStar has an App Store listing, the operator's own site will link to it; check that the developer name matches the operator before installing. If there is no listing, use the mobile site in Safari and add it to your home screen through the share menu, which gives you a one-tap shortcut without installing anything.

Why LottoStar APK mirrors are a risk

Searches for a "LottoStar APK" or a "lotto star app free download" turn up mirror sites that repackage bookmaker apps. A repackaged app can capture your login, your banking details or your FICA documents. Because LottoStar holds your ID and bank information after verification, a fake app is a real fraud risk, not just an inconvenience. Download from the operator's own domain or not at all.

What you can use on mobile

LottoStar lists Slots (Reel Rush), Live Games, Slotteries, ScratchCards, Crash games including Aviator, Arcade Games, Quick Games and Jackpot Arena, with live games from Evolution, Ezugi and Playtech lobbies and slots from Habanero. Searches for a "LottoStar live games download" refer to these lobbies: they run inside the same app or mobile site, not as separate downloads. Casino-style games at bookmakers are legally disputed in South Africa and depend on the province, and LottoStar's lottery-outcome bets have been the subject of court action, which our LottoStar review explains.

Payments on mobile follow the same list as the website, including EFT, card, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay, SnapScan, PayFast and the LottoStar Voucher. Apple Pay and Samsung Pay are naturally the methods most tied to a phone.
