Bettabets review: Mpumalanga licence, Betta Sports, games and payments

This Bettabets review looks at a bookmaker licensed by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator and run by Bettagaming Mpumalanga (Pty) Ltd. Bettabets splits its offer into Betta Sports, Betta Numbers and a games section that includes Aviator and SkyPilot. Its licence and company details are published clearly; its payment information is thin, with only a direct FNB bank deposit described in the pages quoted below. Here is what the documents show, section by section.

Bettabets at a glance

Is Bettabets legit? Licence and operator

The Bettabets footer states that Bettagaming Mpumalanga (Pty) Ltd, trading as Bettabets, registration number 2011/123025/07, is licensed by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator under licence number 9-2-1-09303, version 2.3, with a licence issue date of 26 October 2020. That is a provincial bookmaker licence of the kind every legal online betting site in South Africa must hold.

Two practical checks before you deposit anywhere:

• Footer details. The licence notice should name the board, the licence number and the operating company. Bettabets' footer does all three.
• National register. The National Gambling Board publishes a list of verified operators with licence numbers by province. Comparing the footer with that list takes a minute and is the simplest way to rule out a copycat site.

Bettabets also states that no persons under the age of 18 are allowed to gamble.

What you can bet on at Bettabets

The home page menu lists eight sections: Betta Numbers, Betta Sports, Aviator, SkyPilot, Vegas Games, Vegas Tables, BetGames and Virtual Games. That is a broader mix than many sports-first bookmakers, and it means the site is as much about quick games and draws as about football.

Betta Sports

Betta Sports is the sportsbook. Bettabets' promotions FAQ walks customers through choosing a sport after clicking "Betta Sport", and the bonus rules set minimum odds for sports bets. The published pages quoted here do not list the sports covered or confirm live in-play markets or horse racing, so check the sportsbook menu for current coverage. If sport is your main interest, compare it with the bookmakers in our licensed betting sites ranking.

Betta Numbers

Betta Numbers is the lucky numbers section, with draws such as UK49s and Gosloto shown on the home page. These are bookmaker fixed-odds bets on the outcome of foreign lotteries, not lottery tickets, and their legality under section 57 of the Lotteries Act is contested. This review does not recommend them. The published pages do not describe a product called "Lucky 5", so check the Betta Numbers menu directly if that is what you are looking for.

Aviator, SkyPilot and Vegas Games

The games section includes Spribe's Aviator, the crash game SkyPilot, slot-style Vegas Games, Vegas Tables and BetGames, plus Virtual Games. Online casinos are not licensed in South Africa, and slot-style games at bookmakers are legally disputed: the Supreme Court of Appeal barred Gauteng bookmakers from casino-game bets in 2025, while some provincial boards say their licensees are unaffected. The Aviator guide linked below explains how the crash game works. Searches for a "Bettabets casino" refer to this games section, not a licensed casino.

Bettabets bonus and free bets

The home page banner reads "Register & deposit within 7 days to claim your welcome bonus". The welcome bonus can be used on Lucky Numbers or on sports. The promotions FAQ sets two conditions that are published:

• minimum odds of 1.01 when the bonus is used on Lucky Numbers;
• minimum odds of 1.7 when it is used on sports bets.

The public terms do not state a rollover multiple, an expiry period or a maximum withdrawal from bonus winnings, and no separate free bet offer is described. Read the full terms on the promotions page before claiming. The Bettabets promo code and bonus page tracks the offer, and our bonuses guide explains how rollover and minimum odds work in general.

Bettabets deposits and withdrawals

The payment information published by Bettabets centres on a direct deposit into an FNB bank account, with the account details listed on the site's Direct Deposit page. If you use direct deposit, follow the reference instructions on that page exactly, because an unreferenced bank deposit is hard for any bookmaker to allocate.

Searches for Bettabets 1Voucher deposits are common, but the pages quoted here do not list 1Voucher, OTT, Ozow or card deposits. That does not prove they are unavailable; it means the deposit screen inside your account is the place to check. Withdrawal methods and times are not stated publicly either. As at every licensed bookmaker, expect withdrawals to require completed FICA verification first.

Bettabets sign up and FICA

Opening an account follows the usual pattern for licensed SA bookmakers: personal details, ID or passport number, mobile number and password, then verification. The promotions FAQ gives three ways to submit FICA documents: through the account verification page, by email to [email protected], or via live chat. The step-by-step version is on the Bettabets registration page. Only adults aged 18 or older may open an account.

Customer support

Bettabets lists live chat and email ([email protected]) as support channels, with phone support also referenced. Support hours are not stated in the pages quoted here.

Responsible gambling at Bettabets

Bettabets' responsible gambling terms direct customers to the South African Responsible Gambling Foundation: the toll-free counselling line 0800 006 008, or WhatsApp or SMS "Help" to 076 675 0710. Account self-exclusion or closure is available by contacting support, though the mechanics, such as minimum exclusion periods, are not detailed. Deposit limits and time-outs are not described in the published terms. Our responsible gambling guide explains how operator self-exclusion and the national register work.

How the Bettabets score is built

The score next to this review comes from six published criteria: licence (the heaviest weight), player protection, bonus terms, payments, offer and transparency. Bettabets scores well on licence and transparency because its footer names the regulator, licence number, issue date and company. It loses ground on payments, where only one method is described, and on bonus terms, where the public conditions stop at minimum odds. The full method is on how we rate betting sites.

Bettabets review summary: who it suits

Bettabets suits a bettor who wants sports, lucky numbers and quick games under one licensed account and is comfortable with a simple, bank-deposit-led payment setup. Bettors who want a long list of instant payment methods, detailed bonus terms or confirmed live betting will find more published detail at other licensed bookmakers.
