Betway Aviator: how the game works and what to check first

What Aviator is, how the cash-out mechanic works, and what Betway's Western Cape bookmaker licence does and does not settle.

Betway Aviator is Spribe's crash game as it appears in the games lobby of Betway, a bookmaker licensed in the Western Cape. You place a stake, a plane takes off with a rising multiplier, and you must cash out before it flies away; if you wait too long, the stake is lost. Whether Aviator is in Betway's lobby on a given day is set out on Betway's own site.

Who runs Betway in South Africa

The National Gambling Board register lists Raging River Trading (Pty) Ltd t/a Betway (South Africa) as a bookmaker with licence 10181496-012 in the Western Cape. Before you deposit, compare the company name and licence number in Betway's site footer with the register entry. The full picture of the brand is in our Betway review.

How Aviator on Betway plays

Aviator is a multiplayer crash game. According to Spribe's game sheet, it has a return to player of 97%, released in February 2019, and it uses a provably fair system, which lets each round's outcome be checked against published seeds. A round runs like this:

  1. Choose a stake before the round starts.
  2. The plane takes off and the multiplier climbs from 1x.
  3. Press cash out at any moment. Your stake is paid at the multiplier shown when you press.
  4. If the plane flies away first, the bet is lost.

The game panel also shows live bets from other players, round statistics and leaderboards, and an in-game chat where Spribe runs a promotional feature called Rain. None of these change the odds of a round.

Play Aviator on Betway: before your first round

To play Aviator on Betway you need a verified account. Licensed bookmakers must apply FICA checks, so expect to provide ID documents. Then:

  • Set a deposit limit first. Fast rounds make it easy to lose track of spend.
  • Decide your cash-out rule before the round, not during it.
  • Check the game's own help panel for minimum and maximum stakes; Betway sets these.

The Betway Aviator app question

Searches for an Aviator Betway app usually mean the Betway betting app. Aviator itself is not a separate download: it runs inside the bookmaker's site or app. Current app details for Betway are on its own site and in the official app stores; see our Betway app page. Do not install Aviator "predictor" apps or files from third-party sites: a crash round cannot be predicted, and such files are a common route for malware.

This is genuinely disputed. In October 2025 the Supreme Court of Appeal ruled that Gauteng bookmakers may not take bets on casino games. The National Gambling Board reads that ruling as national; the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board says it has no bearing on its licensees. Betway holds a Western Cape licence, but national policy is still pending, so the status of casino-style games at bookmakers depends on the province and may change.

Aviator is for adults only: you must be 18 or older to gamble in South Africa. If the game stops being fun, the tools and helplines on our responsible gambling page are a good next step.

Questions and answers

Does Betway have Aviator?

Betway is a licensed bookmaker whose games lobby is set out on its own site and changes from time to time. Check the lobby or search for Aviator there; the game is supplied by Spribe.

What is the RTP of Aviator on Betway?

Spribe's game sheet gives Aviator a return to player of 97%. That figure is a long-run average across a huge number of rounds, not a promise for any session.

Can I predict when the plane will fly away?

No. Each round's crash point is set by a provably fair random process. Tools that claim to predict it do not work and can put your phone and account at risk.
