PlayBet Registration: Sign Up, FICA and First Deposit

PlayBet registration takes a few minutes online: you fill in the sign-up form with your personal details, confirm you are 18 or older, and then verify your identity and address under FICA. PlayBet is run by Playbet Mpumalanga (Pty) Ltd and licensed by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator under licence number 9-2-1-00090. One detail matters more than it looks: the welcome bonus clock starts on the day you register, not on the day you first deposit.

PlayBet sign up step by step

1. Open the registration form on playbet.co.za or in the Android app, which PlayBet distributes as a direct download from its own site for Android 6.0 and later.
2. Enter your details: full name, South African ID or passport number, mobile number and email, plus a password.
3. Accept the terms after reading the bonus section, since your registration date sets the bonus deadline.
4. Check your spins. According to the PlayBet FAQ, new customers receive spins credited automatically on registration for selected Pragmatic Play slots.
5. Complete FICA by uploading the documents described below.
6. Make your first deposit of at least R50 if you want the deposit match.

PlayBet FICA: documents and why they are needed

PlayBet's legal page explains that it must verify who you are under the FIC Act and lists the identity and address documents it accepts. In practice that means two things:

• Identity: an ID document such as a green ID book, Smart ID card (both sides), passport or driver's licence.
• Address: a recent document showing your name and residential address, such as a utility bill, bank statement or municipal account.

Check the accepted list on PlayBet's legal page before you upload, and send clear, complete images. Withdrawals are held until verification is done, so it is easier to complete FICA straight after signing up than when you first want to cash out.

The bonus clock starts at registration

The PlayBet FAQ ties both parts of the welcome offer to your sign-up date:

So if you register today and deposit a week later, you have about seven days left, not fourteen, to meet the rollover. The match is split between the Casino and Sports wallets; the current headline amount is 100% first deposit match up to R20,000, split between Casino and Sports wallets. Spins are for slot titles, and the legal status of slot-style games at bookmakers is disputed nationally even though provincial regulators such as Mpumalanga license the bookmakers that offer them.

If registration does not go through

A common cause is an ID number already linked to an account, for example one you opened years ago. Contact PlayBet support through the chat or on 010 745 7479 rather than opening a second account; duplicate accounts are normally closed and their bonuses removed. More about the operator is in our PlayBet review.

Limits from day one

PlayBet offers deposit limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion, and points to the free national helpline on 0800 006 008. Setting a deposit limit during registration is the simplest protection there is. See our responsible gambling page for other tools.
